Wolverine X Metallica Scholars Year Four

NOVEMBER 15, 2023

For four years running, we've worked with the master craftsmen and our friends at Wolverine Boots & Apparel to create something unique to support our Metallica Scholars program. This year, we’ve leveled up with a stunning high-top leather sneaker!

“Wolverine is dedicated to supporting the next generation of skilled trades workers and closing the skilled trades gap. The ongoing partnership with Metallica Scholars is a key component of that mission. This new collection embodies our partnership and purpose and is the perfect blend of heavy metal, quality, and purpose.”

Scott Schoessel, VP of Global Marketing
Wolverine

This limited-edition sneaker features debossed custom skull artwork designed by frequent Metallica collaborator Brandon Heart. It is the latest addition - along with a new Shirt-Jac and Trucker Hat - to a collection of gear that supports our Metallica Scholars working hard to build their own careers in the trades.

In addition to the limited-edition high-top sneakers, the collection includes a Wolverine x Metallica Scholars Encore Shirt-Jac and Wolverine x Metallica Scholars Trucker Hat.

Since 2019, our friends at Wolverine have donated over $750,000 to All Within My Hands. Notably, products from the Wolverine x Metallica Scholars collection have been featured throughout Metallica’s M72 World Tour at venue merch stands and surrounding pop-up shops. All proceeds from the Wolverine x Metallica Scholars Tour Merch benefit Metallica Scholars.

Wolverine X Metallica Scholars Year Three

NOVEMBER 29, 2022

Metallica Scholars and Wolverine have teamed up for the third consecutive year on a limited-edition collection of gear that will help fund programs across the country for people to build their own careers in the trades.

"Since the establishment of Project Bootstrap in 2014, Wolverine has worked to bolster and inspire the next generation of the American workforce. We value our partnership with All Within My Hands immensely because, together, we are able to work towards our unified goal of bringing awareness to all the great opportunities that exist within the skilled trades — like being one of the talented rig-builders, electricians, and set-builders that make up the road crew for a touring rock band."

Wolverine

Wolverine is donating 50% of sales from this limited-edition collection to Metallica Scholars to help more people forge their own paths in the skilled trades. In-kind donations of pairs of work boots and apparel will also be provided to Metallica Scholars. Since the inception of the partnership, Wolverine has donated over $500,000 in financial and in-kind contributions to the Metallica Scholars program.

“The Metallica Scholars Initiative enables students of all ages to embrace workforce education and learn a new trade or upskill to diversify their knowledge base. While our foundation is very active in supporting workforce education in community colleges across more than half of the U.S., it certainly takes a village. Our partner, Wolverine, has gone above and beyond to support our initiatives, and we couldn’t be prouder and more honored to roll out the third limited-edition collection with them in direct support of our mission."

Wolverine X Metallica Scholars Year Two

NOVEMBER 9, 2021

Wolverine and All Within My Hands have once again joined forces to celebrate and support America’s future workforce with a new collection benefiting the Metallica Scholars Initiative! The collaboration features an all-new limited-edition assortment of three Wolverine boots, a hoodie, and a beanie, as well as a graphic t-shirt featuring art by Brandon Heart

“We are grateful to be part of helping the world’s workforce stay strong through the Metallica Scholars Initiative, and Wolverine shares our passion for supporting and celebrating the people who are the future of the workforce. This partnership will continue to shine a light on the opportunities in the skilled trades and support students as they work toward establishing rewarding, sustainable careers.”

James Hetfield

Wolverine has a long-standing commitment to supporting the next generation of skilled trades, and 50% of all sales from the Wolverine x Metallica Scholars collection will support the Metallica Scholars Initiative – a major workforce education initiative that provides direct support to community colleges to enhance their career and technical education programs, providing skills and services to students who are looking to enter a traditional trade or other applied learning program. Since launching the partnership in 2019, Wolverine has contributed more than $300,000 to the Metallica Scholars Initiative.

Each one of the more than 900 Metallica Scholars students across the country this year will receive a pair of the collaboration work boots and a graphic t-shirt as part of the partnership to celebrate and thank them for pursuing training in the trades.

Wolverine X Metallica Scholars Year One

AUGUST 11, 2020

Wolverine started Project Bootstrap in 2014 to celebrate and support those choosing to go into the skilled trades. This year, they’re partnering with us to help build the next generation of American workers by showing just how much trade jobs rock.

Wolverine will be providing every student in the Metallica Scholars program with a pair of Wolverine work boots and will provide funding that will directly support Grand Rapids Community College, Lone Star College, and WSU Tech.

“Wolverine shares the same vision that we had when creating the Metallica Scholars Initiative – that it’s incredibly important to create and sustain a strong and resilient American workforce. AWMH is our way of giving back and building future generations. More importantly, we are helping these students achieve their dreams and transform their lives through the workforce education programs offered at community colleges all across the country.”

James Hetfield

Wolverine will further support students in the skilled trades with proceeds from two limited edition boots.

The Wolverine x Metallica Scholars 1000 Mile Axel limited-edition boot is based on the popular Wolverine 1000 Mile boot silhouette with several Metallica-inspired features including a Metallica Key logo-inspired metal heel plate, an All Within My Hands metal toe kicker, metal-tipped laces and a metal guitar pick tag.

The Wolverine x Metallica Scholars Hellcat UltraSpring™ boot combines traditional work boot durability with the modern performance of Wolverine UltraSpring™ cushioning. The boot has its own unique Metallica Scholars-inspired features – a custom molded Metallica Key logo stitched on the boot and a custom metal ‘Metallica Scholars’ guitar pick tag.
