Meet the Grantee: Episode 3 - Feeding Texas

JUNE 13, 2022

In February of 2021, three major winter storms swept across the US, causing freezing temperatures in Texas that resulted in a massive power outage. More than 4.5 million homes and businesses were left without power, some for several days, leading to shortages of water, food, and heat. The Feeding Texas network is the largest hunger-relief organization in Texas. Together with 21 member food banks, they reach over 5 million Texans annually. Every 1 dollar donated to Feeding Texas can be turned into four meals. During Winter Storm Uri in 2021, the network of food banks had the ability to provide people with necessary food and water when they otherwise had no access to it.

Our Director of Philanthropy, Renée Richardson, sat down with Celia Cole, CEO of Feeding Texas, to discuss how the food bank was able to tap into the resilience of its volunteers to get through a terrifying time.
