BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — The College of Western Idaho (CWI) received a major boost Tuesday with a $75,000 grant from an unexpected supporter — the iconic rock band Metallica. Through its foundation, All Within My Hands, Metallica has joined forces with CWI to support the college’s Fire Service Technology Program, providing funding for essential equipment, scholarships, and hands-on training.

MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. — A local community college has been selected to receive $100,000 for the Metallica Scholars Initiative (MSI).

CLINTON, Iowa — Iconic metal band Metallica is awarding a sizable scholarship fund to Clinton Community College through an expansion of one of its charitable initiatives.

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. -- A community college in Nebraska is getting support from a major heavy metal band. Central Community College was selected to receive $100,000 to help transform the future of students.

The money comes from Metallica. The band's goal is to support community colleges across the country and foster interest in professional trades. The Metallica Scholars Initiative is now in its third year.

All profits from every track on The Metallica Blacklist will benefit Metallica’s charitable foundation, All Within My Hands, along with a charity of each artist’s choice.

Gateway received a $100,000 grant from Metallica’s “All Within My Hands” Foundation. The foundation selected the technical college as one of 10 to be the host site of the inaugural Metallica Scholars program, offering a restructured 8-credit course at a highly-reduced cost to students.

For the second time in six months I am at the L.A. Food Bank with one of the biggest rock bands in the world. This past December I was here with members of the Foo Fighters for a barbeque and benefit to raise money for the food bank.

This time I am here on a Wednesday afternoon with Metallica' bassist Robert Trujillo, who is here as part of the "Day Of Service." He is here with dozens of volunteers, sorting foods, packing bags to feed the hungry.
