#MetallicaGivesBack Warsaw: €60,000 Granted to Three Local Organizations

JULY 8, 2024

Metallica’s M72 Word Tour stop in Warsaw gave us the opportunity to help out in the local community with the support of Live Nation Poland. We selected Bank Żywności SOS w Warszawie, World Central Kitchen, and Centrum Praw Kobiet to receive our grants. With Metallica’s tour sponsor, Iveco Group, matching our donation, we know these vital organizations will provide critical resources and support to their communities.

Bank Żywności SOS w Warszawie (the SOS Food Bank in Warsaw) obtains food and reduces waste with the help of producers, wholesalers, and retailers, distributing it to people in need with the help of volunteers. All food is subject to quality/sanitary checks before being donated to charities, shelters, welfare centers, and other organizations aiding those in need. The organization helps people regardless of their age, gender, or nationality, equally respecting the dignity of all. Bank Żywności SOS is receiving €20,000 along with a matching donation from Iveco Group.

In addition to the donation, as part of Metallica’s Weekend Takeover events, Overkill.PL (the local fan club chapter) jumped at the opportunity to join us in giving back. Before the show on Friday, they gathered their members and got to work putting in volunteer hours at Bank Żywności SOS, representing the Metallica Family and AWMH beautifully.

World Central Kitchen’s #ChefsForUkraine initiative is still very active in Poland, where the campaign began two years ago when the organization set up shop at border crossings to serve meals to refugees. In the early months of the invasion, WCK served millions of fresh meals to Ukrainian families fleeing home and people remaining in the country. WCK knows that food is a universal human right, and remains committed to feeding people in the area where the need is urgent. This is the third time AWMH has partnered with #ChefsForUkraine. World Central Kitchen is receiving €20,000 along with a matching donation from Iveco Group.

Centrum Praw Kobiet counteracts violence and discrimination against women in private, public, and professional life. The organization strives to create conditions that enable and empower women to enjoy their human rights, including the right to live free from violence and discrimination, and to implement the constitutional principle of gender equality. The center provides legal, psychological, and educational help and organizes regular meetings and workshops on women's rights, disseminating information published by the Foundation. The center also offers a 24-hour helpline for women. Centrum Praw Kobiet is receiving €20,000 along with a matching donation from Iveco Group.
