#MetallicaGivesBack Oslo: €40,000 Granted to Two Local Organizations

JUNE 27, 2024

Metallica’s stop at the Tons of Rock festival in Oslo gave us the opportunity to help out in the local community with the support of Live Nation Norway. We selected Matsentralen Oslo and The Church City Mission to receive our grants. With Metallica’s tour sponsor, Iveco Group, matching our donation, we know these vital organizations will provide critical resources and support to their communities.

Matsentralen Oslo is Norway's first food center and, since 2013, has redistributed almost 13,000 tons of food – equating to 26 million meals – to non-profit organizations in Oslo and Viken. Roughly 60% of the food goes to organizations that provide food aid to disadvantaged people in Oslo and the remainder goes to nearby areas. By focusing on redistribution, Matsentralen can help the food industry reduce waste while taking social responsibility and providing much-needed food for members of its community. Matsentralen Oslo is receiving €20,000 along with a matching donation from Iveco Group.

The Church City Mission is an inclusive nonprofit organization working across Norway to support the most vulnerable members of its community. While individual struggles may be unique, it is universal that all people should experience respect, justice, and care. With 1,800 employees and 4,500 volunteers, the organization is able to support 50 communities and counting throughout Norway. Among its many initiatives are programs for youth, elderly, housing, employment, and food. The Church City Mission is receiving €20,000 along with a matching donation from Iveco Group.
