#MetallicaGivesBack Minneapolis: $100,000 Granted to Three Non-Profit Organizations

AUGUST 19, 2024

Metallica’s M72 Word Tour stop in Minneapolis gave us the opportunity to give back to the local community. With the help of the fans in attendance at U.S. Bank Stadium, we committed $100,000 across three organizations doing great work in Minneapolis and beyond: Second Harvest Heartland, People Serving People, and Support+Feed

Second Harvest Heartland is one of the nation’s largest food banks and a leader in the emergency food chain. Making an impact that goes beyond a generous box of nutritious groceries, the organization advocates for systematic change, innovates the way we source and distribute food, and empowers the community to provide healthy food where it’s needed most. Second Harvest Heartland is about making families whole again, helping those in crisis find stability, relieving the stress of an empty fridge for parents, making sure kids have the food they need to learn in school, giving seniors a chance to stretch their dollars every month, and meeting community needs. Second Harvest Heartland is receiving $40,000.

People Serving People is the largest and most comprehensive emergency shelter for families experiencing homelessness in Minnesota. A dedicated leader in homelessness prevention, its vision is to heal families and transform communities. The organization goes beyond providing safe shelter and warm meals for guests — it helps their families thrive by offering holistic programs to families experiencing housing insecurity. Donations help the shelter sustain comprehensive services like financial literacy classes, employment and housing assistance, on-site high-quality childcare, and more. People Serving People is receiving $40,000.

This summer, we’ll also donate to Support+Feed with proceeds from each US tour stop. The donations will help us feed people and inspire us to eat more plant-based foods. Support+Feed is a non-profit organization that combats the climate crisis and fights for food justice by working for a global shift to an equitable plant-based food system. They’ll help us provide plant-based meal deliveries and host volunteer opportunities during Metallica’s Weekend Takeovers. If you’re going to a show, keep an eye out for the in-venue, and be sure to stop in and stay hi! Support+Feed is receiving $20,000.
