Hurricane Milton made landfall on Wednesday, October 9, as a Catagory 3 storm near Siesta Key, Florida. High winds, tornadoes, and flooding engulfed an already ravaged state just days after Hurricane Helene blew through.

Ford Field in Detroit hosted Metallica’s final M72 Weekend Takeover of 2023. It was bittersweet for the fans, but a bonus for three important organizations receiving a combined $100,000 grants: Gleaners Food Bank, Alternatives For Girls, and The Farmlink Project.
The World Central Kitchen Relief Team arrived in Mexico City shortly after the storm passed, airlifting thousands of meals and bottles of water into areas cut off by damage. WCK is also working to provide shops and restaurants with supplies as local merchants and community pillars continue to be overwhelmed by the rapid depletion of materials and goods.

We continue along the North American run of the M72 World Tour as Metallica just wrapped up two incredible nights at Stade Olympique. In partnership with Montréal-based promoter Evenko, the band and All Within My Hands are donating CA$107,000 of ticket revenue back to two local organizations, La Tablée des Chefs and Shelter Movers, doing meaningful work within the community.
Wildfires that started on Tuesday and moved quickly across the island of Maui have ravaged the historic town of Lahaina. Burning out neighborhoods and obliterating communities, at least 36 people have died, making this the deadliest wildfire in the US in five years. These devastating fires are the product of a confluence of weather conditions: dry vegetation, low humidity, and the vigorous winds of Hurricane Dora fanning the flames.

The widespread destruction from recent winter storms and the Pajaro levee breach in Monterey County, California, has caused hardship for many residents and their families. In line with our commitment to supporting critical local services, All Within My Hands is granting $50,000 to the Monterey County Storm Relief Fund of the Community Foundation for Monterey County (CFMC) to aid those affected by the storm damage and flooding.
On the evening of March 24, 2023, multiple tornadoes moved through Mississippi and Alabama. According to the National Weather Service, there were reports of twenty tornadoes that swept through the two states that day, including a violent scale 4 Enhanced Fujita (EF) in Rolling Fork, MS. By Sunday, another tornado was confirmed to have touched down near LaGrange, Georgia, about 65 miles southeast of Atlanta. All Within My Hands is granting $50,000 to Team Rubicon and $50,000 to Direct Relief to assist in their recovery efforts.
As the window closes on rescue efforts following the devastating earthquakes and aftershocks, the region is left with entire towns and cities reduced to piles of concrete. The human toll is devastating, as more than 36,000 people have been killed; tragically, that number is expected to rise in the coming days.

Since late December, there have been nine atmospheric rivers causing power outages, flooding, levee breaks, washouts, and landslides, with at least 20 deaths in our home state of California. For Direct Relief, All Within My Hands’ long-time partner in community assistance during times of disaster, this one hits close to home as the organization has been Santa Barbara-based for nearly 75 years. When they reached out for our support, we jumped in with a donation of $50,000 towards their efforts.

When we learned that our friends at BLACKENED wanted to support the rebuilding efforts in Kentucky with the veteran-led humanitarian organization Team Rubicon, our only question was, how can we help?
In partnership with Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Fame Member, Wes Henderson, BLACKENED will support the rebuilding efforts in Western Kentucky by donating $25,000. Metallica and All Within My Hands will match this donation, making the overall total donation $50,000 to Team Rubicon.

Since establishing the Metallica Scholars Initiative in 2019, All Within My Hands (AWMH) has been working with the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) to provide direct support for career and technical education programs across the US. Having grown from a concept to a thriving educational strategy that focuses on enhancing skills while providing services to students looking to enter a traditional trade or other applied learning program, the Metallica Scholars Initiative has generated a proven and measurable impact. AWMH will replicate the program further by adding ten more schools to the roster, investing $1.8 million to expand in year four.
As heavy rains swept across Europe in July 2021, regions of Western Germany saw an entire month’s worth of rainfall within just 48 hours. This downpour led to flooding and grave disaster, with at least 184 deaths reported.
As we close our campaign to raise $1,000,000 for World Central Kitchen (WCK) and their #ChefsForUkraine initiative, the level of effort and support you’ve given moves us. This very cool, once very cold, drumhead was created for Lars Ulrich in advance of Metallica’s 2013 performance at Carlini Argentine Base on the South Shetland Islands in Antarctica. Tony Baldwin is the Housing Navigation Coordinator at Hamilton Families (the San Francisco service provider to families experiencing homelessness that was the donation recipient during the 2019 S&M2 shows), a tireless job which requires patience, fortitude, and most of all, a passion to help others. The celebration of the 20th anniversary of the original creative collaboration between Metallica and the San Francisco Symphony not only opened the brand-new Chase Center in San Francisco, but offered AWMH the opportunity to make new friends and raise more funds! The two live performances brought in more than $265,000 thanks to individuals and groups who believe in our mission: Creating sustainable communities by supporting workforce education, the fight against hunger, and other critical local services.

The final leg of the European tour starts with a very special donation. A primary focus of Metallica’s All Within My Hands Foundation has been the fight against hunger. With every stop on the band’s WorldWired Tour, at home and abroad, the guys have made a donation of $10,000 to a local community food bank. That act of touching the lives of people in cities the tour visits inspired members of the crew to start a campaign of their own.
Ten colleges from across the country will receive $100,000 to support more than 1,000 students training to enter the American workforce. These students will become the first cohort of Metallica Scholars.

Road Recovery is an entertainment industry-based non-profit organization dedicated to helping young people battle addiction and other adversities by empowering at-risk youth from all backgrounds to face their struggles, while teaching them comprehensive life skills. Last week James hung out with some of the Road Recovery kids in NYC.
